JD Sheth Weatherization

Summary provided by Project: JD Sheth Foundation (JDSF) will be utilizing all awarded dollars to expand our current enhancement to CenterPoint Energy’s Neighborhood Weatherization and Healthier Homes programs. As of February 2024, JDSF has been removing barriers that CenterPoint Energy has to weatherize qualifying homes in the City of Evansville. Their primary barrier is funding. We have made an impact in the first quarter through funding granted to us from the American

Rescue Plan Act through the City of Evansville, but we would like to expand this program moving forward into Vanderburgh, Warrick, Gibson, and Posey Counties. This move into surrounding counties will allow us to support some of our more rural residents and possibly more vulnerable areas of southwest Indiana.

Included in this geographical expansion plan, JDSF would also like to expand the services of this program to support longevity of the aging homes in our region. There is a need for lower cost utilities especially with utility bills rising; however, there are also infrastructure upgrades that can be done on pre-existing homes that will increase the quality and stability of that home and that homeowner’s life.
