EVANSVILLE, Ind. (July 27, 2026) — Prokuma, a family-owned engineering, automation, and process control firm, is doubling its Evansville workforce and building a new facility on North Kentucky Avenue, an estimated $2.3 million investment.
Founded in Evansville in 2017, Prokuma designs, builds, and programs the systems that run industrial operations — robotic assembly and packaging cells, electrical and power quality equipment, and control systems for paint lines, power plants, and distilleries. The company has more than 115 active customers and has delivered work in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, and the Bahamas.
Prokuma employs 10 people in Evansville and plans to keep those positions and add 12 more over the next several years, reaching total employment of 22. Those jobs are expected to pay a base-wage average of about $38.62 an hour, or $80,330 a year, more than 40 percent above the Vanderburgh County average.
Construction on the 12,000-square-foot facility is underway on property next to Prokuma’s current operation, with completion expected by the end of 2026. The added space gives the company room for larger projects.
To support the project, the Vanderburgh County Council approved a seven-year, performance-based tax incentive tied to the company meeting its hiring and investment commitments. It applies only to the value the new building adds; Prokuma’s taxes on its existing operation are unchanged.
Counting jobs at area suppliers and other local businesses, the expansion is expected to support about 31 jobs a year in Vanderburgh County and generate nearly $35 million in economic output through 2032. Engineering services has been a growing regional sector, expanding from 65 firms in 2015 to 105 in 2025.
