EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A new report from the Purdue Center for Regional Development highlights the Evansville Region as a standout economic performer, leading all Indiana regions in both worker productivity and GDP growth.

The report, Indiana Economic and Workforce Regions: Economic Development Trends, points to a combination of strong workforce performance, business growth, and an evolving occupational mix as key drivers of the region’s success.

“This data reinforces what we’re seeing on the ground,” said Josh Armstrong, Chief Economic Development Officer. “The Evansville Region isn’t just growing, we’re becoming more productive, more balanced, and more competitive.”

Key findings from the report include:

  • The highest worker productivity among Indiana regions
  • The fastest GDP growth in the state
  • Continued growth in micro and small business establishments
  • Positive worker growth, signaling a strengthening labor market
  • An improving mix of blue- and white-collar occupations, supporting long-term resilience

Together, these trends position the Evansville Region as a model for sustainable economic development where both businesses and workers are thriving.

The report underscores the region’s ability to adapt and evolve, balancing its legacy industries with emerging opportunities and a diverse workforce.
